Preparing for the Cookbook project where students write a recipe, write their personal story related to the recipe, and write a small research paper about the recipe or one of its components or techniques (eg. history of brownies, or history of chocolate, or history of whipping eggs, varied kinds of brownies in the south, or techniques for creating different kinds of chocolate, etc., etc.)
